The first open dialogue session between Hong Kong’s government and the public will be held during the week starting September 23, 2019, according to Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor.  On September 17, Lam announced that Hong Kong officials have formed a new “Dialogue Office” and will invite people “from all walks of life” to express their views about ways to resolve the city’s political crisis sparked by a now-shelved government extradition bill.
