Hong Kong police defend the shooting of an 18-year-old protester, calling it ‘lawful and reasonable’
Hong Kong police dismissed accusations that the force had ordered officers to “shoot to kill” when dealing with anti-government protesters. An 18-year-old protester was shot in his chest with a live round by a police officer on October 1, 2019. Police defended the use of force at a press conference a day after the incident and said the officer’s life was under threat at the moment.
