the average worker in the United States spends
half their day on time-wasting tasks. Here are the three
most time-consuming,
unnecessary tasks. 1. Lengthy Commuting

According to the 2018 U.S. Census
Bureau, the average commute to
work takes 27 minutes. That amounts to approximately 5.6 years
spent commuting during the average worker’s
career, or roughly 13 percent of their workday. 2. Useless Meetings
A study conducted by MIT found
that the average worker spends
22 years of their career in meetings. An estimated third of those meetings are believed
to be of no value, meaning 16 percent of one’s
career is spent in useless meetings. 3. Irrelevant Emails
According to ‘Forbes,’ the average worker
spends 1.8 hours daily reading and responding
to emails that aren’t relevant to their job. Over a 45-year career, that’s a total of 10 years spent
on irrelevant emails, which comes out to 23 percent.
