पति पत्नी के प्रेम का प्रतीक करवा चौथ का पर्व आज 17 अक्टूबर को देशभर में मनाया जा रहा है। महिलाएं इस इस बार 70 साल पर रोहिणी नक्षत्र के शुभ संयोग में पति की दीघार्यु की कामना करेंगी। पति की लंबी उम्र की कामना के साथ महिलाएं आज पूरे दिन निर्जला व्रत रखेंगी और शाम को चंद्रमा निकलने पर पूजा करने के बाद अन्न जल ग्रहण करेंगी। इस व्रत में चांद को छलनी से देखने का विशेष प्रचलन है। इस साल व्रत की समयाविधि भी करीब 14 घंटे की रहेगी। ऐसे में अभी भी कई महिलाओं को ये नहीं पता होगा कि करवाचौथ मनाने की परंपरा कैसे शुरू हुई और क्यों इस व्रत पर पति के लंबी उम्र की मनोकामना की जाती है।
