A herd of wild elephants took some time off to have a relaxing, and very messy, mud bath together at a safari park in South Africa.

The herd was filmed taking a mud bath at the Madikwe Game Reserve on August 23.

Visual shows the herd of seven elephants, three adults, three babies and one adolescent, all in the hole at the same time.

While the adult elephants sprayed themselves with the mud, the younger ones tried to mimic their action.

After spraying itself with a good amount of mud water, an elephant sat down to relax, before eventually all seven got up to leave.

This behaviour of elephants is not uncommon as mud baths help them protect their skin from being sunburnt.
