Lack of rain in China causes parts of Asia's largest river to dry up

The dry riverbed on the Yangtze River has been exposed due to the decreasing precipitation in southeastern China.

The drone video, filmed in the city of Nanchang on October 22, shows stretches of the dried-up riverbed on the Gan River which is a tributary of the Yangtze River.

Cracks can be seen on the shore because of the severe drought.

The water level of the Gan River was only 11.61 metres on October 20.

The period between now August and October was the hottest Jiangxi Province has ever been and in that same period, the average rainfall was down 90%.
