German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who visited India, was traditionally welcomed at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday. During this time the national anthem was also sung. But Angela Merkel did not stand during the National Anthem, but sat in a chair. The reason behind his sitting during the National Anthem is his health.

भारत दौरे पर आईं जर्मन चांसलर एंजेला मर्केल का शुक्रवार को राष्‍ट्रपति भवन में पारंपरिक रूप से स्‍वागत किया गया. इस दौरान राष्‍ट्रगान भी गाया गया. लेकिन एंजेला मर्केल राष्‍ट्रगान के दौरान खड़ी नहीं हुईं, बल्कि कुर्सी पर बैठी रहीं. राष्‍ट्रगान के दौरान उनके बैठे रहने के पीछे का कारण उनका स्‍वास्‍थ्‍य है.
