The importance of the Charter of Fundamental Rights, enhanced by the Lisbon Treaty, forced us to revaluate our basic fundamental rights, not least the freedom of speech. We are reminded of the necessity of this basic and fundamental right by the fact that in the last 10 years, there have been over two hundred court cases brought against journalists in Bulgaria alone. ----------------------------------------------- MEP's Concerned:
