A COUPLE with a 36-year-age gap, Julia Zelg and Eileen De Freest have recently tied the knot and as they embark on their married life, they have decided to go travelling to Eileen’s home country - America. Julia, 25, a YouTuber from Brazil met Eileen, 61, a former political pundit, on Tinder just over a year ago. The pair flew to Julia’s home country Brazil where they met Julia’s mother – who is eight years younger than Eileen - for the very first time in December last year. They married in the summer this year in London, where they both live together. The newly-weds have been staying in LA and now they are heading to New York and New Jersey, where they are planning on visiting Eileen’s family. However, the couple faced some hardship while visiting the country. After landing in New York City Airport, Eileen had been arrested while at customs and kept in custody for two and a half days. She had outstanding warrants issued in New York in 2005 and New Jersey in 2001. Both warrants were for unauthorised use of a vehicle after Eileen rented a car from car rental agencies but they were unable to collect the payment and therefore, pressed charges against her that were unresolved and led to a warrant. Eileen, accompanied by her wife Julia, has since answered the warrant in a hearing and both the New York and the New Jersey cases have been dismissed by the judge after her arrest and she no longer has any outstanding issues. After such a traumatic experience, the newly-weds were finally able to continue their trip and visit Eileen’s family in New Jersey. Eileen’s niece, Melissa De Freest, who resides in New Jersey, has attended the couple’s wedding ceremony where she met Julia for the first time. Now, the couple are visiting Melissa and meeting her for the first time after they’ve got married. Melissa told Barcroft TV: “Once we found out that Eileen was engaged to Julia, we were really happy for her. Their age difference never really occurred to me until other people had brought it up.” Julia and Eileen say that they have received nothing but support from both their families and despite their almost 40-year gap, the pair have learned to not let the judgement from others bother them and their romance. Eileen concluded: “It's lovely to see how love can break through prejudices.”
