President Moon Jae-in, marking the start of the second half of his term, said today that the fate of the Korean Peninsula depends on peace, and that hurdles remain in the peace process.
Here's the president.
"We have no other choice. We will not give up in our efforts for peace until the dawn of a new Korean Peninsula of peace and prosperity."
He went on to say that the country faces a grave historic challenge in eliminating the danger of war and building a new order on the Peninsula through dialogue.
But, he warned, its too early to be optimistic.
Looking ahead to the remaining two-and-a-half years, the president said, will be critical for the people and the country.
And he pledged continued efforts to foster innovative and inclusive growth while improving fairness throughout society.
