A nine-foot-long crocodile that had been spotted lurking in the bushes off a busy street of a north India town, was rescued after a risky operation.

The incident took place on October 28 in RPS Colony of Nuclear City Rawatbhata in Rajasthan. According to local people, the reptile had been wandering in the area for weeks. A few pedestrians and motorists, as per the rescuers, had witnessed the beast lurking in the bushes and crossing over to the other side of the road several times.

Alerted, a group of wildlife rescuers arrived at the scene and started scouting the area for the beast. It was then they spotted reptile lurking in the buses off the road. As many as 10 people struggled for around an hour to get hold of the feisty beast that managed to wriggle out of the rope noose every it was hurled towards it. After several misses, the rescuers finally managed to pin the beast down.

Quick on their feet, they tied up the crocodile's mouth first and then covered its eye with a jute sack.

The reptile was first treated and was safely released in the forest
