00:08For me, I had a lot of lines.
00:14In fact I think this character had more lines
00:19than any other character I worked on.
00:24Not just the sheer volume, but there was also a lot of color
00:28and sense of character portrayed in her lines,
00:33so I was really focused on how to bring the well written script to life.
00:40I didn’t want to force laughter, or exaggerate,
00:44but just be loyal to the situations created in the script.
00:50So my main focus was how to really capture and
00:54deliver the script as best as I can.
00:59As for me, because I was playing a North Korean character,
01:04the North Korean accent was my priority.
01:08Before shooting, I took lessons, once again.
01:11And because my character needs to protect Se-ri,
01:15I also wanted to physically appear dependable, so I bulked up a bit,
01:21and my character had studied piano in Switzerland as a child
01:25so I had to take piano lessons as well.
01:34We shot overseas from the beginning,
01:38so we didn’t get the chance to really rehearse the details
01:43with the team in Korea before our shoot,
01:46and the schedule was quite tight…and also,
01:49there were a lot of emotional scenes shot overseas,
01:54so maintaining the degree of emotions in the different locations was quite a challenge.
02:04When it comes to challenges…
02:08I would say there’s something that is hard to achieve
02:11and that is–as Yejin mentioned before–
02:15because the script is so well written,
02:18we really wanted to make sure that we didn’t do the script any harm,
02:24and convey what we had felt when we had first read the script,
02:28onto the screen through our acting.
02:32That was and is the focus of our acting.
02:34It could be the timing or the tempo,
02:37and just finding just the right points that allows us
02:40to really bring the script to life–that is the difficult part.
02:43But despite it being difficult,
02:46I really enjoy the process,
02:49so hopefully our viewers will appreciate that also.
02:57I think all of our lives change and sometimes lead to regret,
03:02due to destiny and serendipity.
03:06Our drama series really is a continuation of destiny, coincidence, and serendipity.
03:16 I personally think about these things quite often in life.
03:22Everything just might be destined…
03:27I’m a bit of a fatalist; and I think our drama conveys these ideas as well.
03:36I think destiny, coincidence, serendipity…
03:42these things are always very near us,
03:45but whether it will lead us in a positive or negative direction,
03:49only time will tell.
