Life expectancy in the United States increased for the first time in four years.
Officials say the uptick is in part thanks to the number of fatal drug overdoses decreasing recently.
Health officials also say that 6 of the 10 leading causes of death declined across the board.
Life expectancy in the U.S. in 2018 was 78.7 years, compared to 78.6 years in 2017.
CNN reports that the 2018 estimate remains lower than the peak of 78.9 years in 2014.
