"무대 위 현장감 그대로"...이젠 VR로 즐기는 온라인 공연
Amid the prolonged coronavirus outbreak,... performances have gone online for viewers at home.
Instead of just staring at a flat screen,... virtual reality technology is offering a more real experience for the audience.
Kan Hyeong-woo reports.
Due to social distancing measures,... artists and theaters have been live streaming their performances for viewers online.
Now with some help from virtual reality technology,... viewers at home can feel closer to some online concerts.
Gyeonggi Arts Center was the first place in South Korea to utilize VR for online performances.
"Viewers can change the camera angle to see what they want to see. If you put on the head gear, it makes you feel like you are right next to the artists."
Because you watch the performance from the perspective of the on-stage singers, not from the floor seats,... you feel more involved than you would when watching normal online performances.
Korea's traditional music gugak is also using virtual reality technology to provide a more up-close experience of its performance.
"With the VR headset on, you can look around anywhere as if you were standing in the middle of the stage."
Even if you don't have a VR headset, you can still enjoy the same content on your computer or smartphone by adjusting the viewing angle.
From fan dances to Samulnori -- Korea's traditional percussion quartet,...the National Gugak Center has 39 VR performances on its YouTube channel.
