AZA is the name of a musical group created in Santa Cruz (California). It's made up of two singers Fattah Abbou and Mohamed Aoualou from Morocco and American musicians. Through this association, AZA creates a unique style made of exciting melodies and resulting from the meeting of traditional and modern instruments.
Fattah Abbou and Mohamed Aoualou, the cofounders of AZA, are both multi instrumentalists, vocalists and songwriters inspired by the many styles of North African music. Together, they had the idea of bringing a new acoustic sound to the world.
Here Fattah Abbou & Mohamed Aoualou came into KZSC to play a live set on Artists on Art December 9, 2015.
KZSC is a campus radio station broadcasting from the campus of the University of California, Santa Cruz, California.
What these two talented artists are doing in California is extraordinary. In addition to artistic production, organizing concerts and participating in festivals, they teach amazigh music in a school they founded in Santa Cruz.
