The district is under Chittagong Division. It is situated South-eastern part of Bangladesh. The main attraction of this place for tourist is Gandhi Ashram. It is bounded by Comilla and Chandpur on the north, the Meghna estuary and the Bay of Bengal on the south, Feni, and Chittagong on the east, Laxmipur, and Bhola on the west. Rivers are Meghna, Sandwip and Hatiya channel are notable. The meaning of the place is Noa means New and Khal means Canal. Noakhali district is 165 Kilometers far from Dhaka city.
