대법 "갤노트7 폭발 사태에 삼성전자 손해배상 책임 없어"
South Korea's Supreme Court has upheld a lower court's ruling in favor of Samsung Electronics in regards to the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco.
The court said Thursday that Samsung is not liable to pay compensation for the psychological damage caused by fears the device could burst into flames or even explode.
Giving reasons for its verdict, the Supreme Court said Samsung did not act illegally nor did it make an error during the recall process.
The Galaxy Note 7 was released in August 2016, but within 5 days, users reported that their phones were exploding.
Samsung admitted there was a fault with the device's battery, recalled them and discontinued the line.
