On this Day in 2009 Real Madrid announced they had signed Cristiano Ronaldo from English side Manchester United for a fee of €94-million ($132-million U.S. dollars).

The Portugal winger went on to help the Spanish side win four UEFA Champions League trophies, two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey's and two Spanish Super Cups. He also won four Ballon d'Or awards at the club, three golden boots and was named UEFA's Best Player in Europe three times.

In his nine year reign, he scored a total of 311 goals - his rival Lionel Messi is the only person who tops him with 438 goals. Ronaldo signed a four-year deal in July 2019 to join Juventus from Real Madrid in a 112 million euro (131.5 million US dollars) move.
