Ferrofluid is a very expensive liquid used for demonstrations in Science classes. It is an oil based liquid with microscopic size iron particles. It has some amazing magnetic properties, however it is very expensive and messy.
When Australian Science Teacher and YouTuber, Jacob Strickling was shopping in Aldi he noticed a can of magnetic paint. This got him thinking and he surmised that the paint was a liquid with tiny particles of iron and hence could quite possibly be a replacement for Ferrofluid.
In this ASMR video, Strickling first demonstrates the magnetic properties of Ferrofluid and in a funny twist ends up getting the ferrofluid stuck on the end of the magnet. He cleverly uses a syringe to remove it from the magnet. He has an other accident with the ferrofluid and it gets stuck on the side of the magnet.
Eventually he gets around to test the magnetic properties of the Aldi paint, and to his surprise and delight that it has some of the properties of ferrofluid and yet costs 50 time less!
