Property worth millions of shillings was destroyed in Marsabit County, Kenya due to tribal animosity pitting communities since 2005. The clashes, which is believed to have erupted after the Turbi massacre in 2005, which was the worst ethnic violence ever experienced in the region in a span of ten years, saw at least 50 people killed including school going children. Turbi is located 391 miles north of Kenya’s capital city, Nairobi. Before the incidence, the conflicts in the region were assumed to be sporadic incidences over pasture and water typical of Pastrolists communities.
