China urges US to end F-16 jet sales and military contact with Taiwan

Beijing urged Washington to immediately stop its planned arms sales to Taiwan and cease military contact with Taiwan, foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said at a press conference on August 17, 2020. Taiwan formally signed an agreement on August 15 to buy 66 F-16V fighter jets from the US. Beijing has firmly opposed the deal since Washington announced it in 2019. Video source: CCTV
