All-female drilling crew at Kumba Iron Ore

An all-female drilling crew is literally breaking new ground for women in mining at Kumba Iron Ore’s operations in the Northern Cape. The team of four women has impressed mine executives since starting their on-the-job training earlier this year. Another 10 women from local communities will be recruited in the coming months. The mine says new technology provided the perfect opportunity to bring in female drillers. Mabusha Nyelisani, an Exploration Geologist at Kumba Iron Ore, speaks on this.
