The massive farmers’ protests in Punjab over the new farm laws have put the state unit of the BJP on the backfoot. Various parties in the state the state—the ruling Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the BJP’s erstwhile partner SAD (Shiromani Akali Dal)—are closely knitted with as many as 31 farmers’ associations to hold demonstrations over the issue.
