Assam Burns Over CAB: The violent protests against the passage of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 has led to a lot of unrest in the Northeast. Rail and Air traffic have been severely disrupted. The unrest has led to the suspension of all passenger train operations in Assam, Tripura and Mizoram. At least 15 flights between Guwahati and Dibrugarh – the two main airports in the state – were cancelled until 7 pm. Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday appealed to all sections of people of Assam to maintain peace and tranquillity in the state. Former Assam CM Tarun Gogoi said Heritage of Northeast and Assam people is in danger.
