미 대선 결정의 날: 백악관 연결 AP 출입기자 현장 연결

First, we begin with Ciaran McQuillan in Washington.
Ciaran, both candidates have reacted to this tense election night by giving late night or early morning speeches. President Trump said he'll be going to the Supreme Court. Why?
key points from Biden, Trump speeches
This is an election that will most likely not be decided in the coming hours... although some key states have already been called in what could be a frantic and dramatic days to come.
Ciaran, what are some of the big conclusions at this point?
- Much like in 2016, we are now looking at three states in the so-called "rust belt" that will decide the election: Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
In these and other states, the slow result is because of the early vote, which in these three states is still being counted.
Other states that Biden hoped he might be able to pick up were a disappointment to Democrats, e.g. North Carolina, by a small margin, Georgia was not the big surprise Democrats were hoping for. And Florida ended up staying in Trump's win column.
Texas ended up being a pipe dream for Democrats as well: a closer call than in past elections but Trump prevailed in the end.
All in all, Trump performed better than expected.
What was Election Day and Election Night like in Washington?
It was unlike any election day in the United States in recent history, with the fear of violence leading to almost every storefront around the White House being boarded up.
An eerie and tense atmosphere around the Trump hotel as well, from where some guests were taken by police escort to Trump's White House watch party.
The greater context was the pandemic, though. It changed the way the candidates campaigned and meant neither candidate was able to host a real election night party, the way we have covered them in the past.
No signs of violence in Washington at the beginning of the night, [to be completed depending on late developments].
