Today, let's know about Dharmendra who is popularly known as "Garam Dharam" in Bollywood.
By the way, did you know Dharmendra is the only actor to have starred with almost all the Kapoor family members? He did not star with Kareena Kapoor and Prithviraj Kapoor.

The "He-Man" of Indian cinema, Dharmendra, who has acted in films like "Phool Aur Patthar" (1966), "Jugnu" (1973), "Raja Jani" (1972), and "Loafer" (1973) was born in a Jat family on 8th December 1935, in Nasrali, Punjab, British India. However, His parents were Kewal Kishan Singh Deol and Satwant Kaur. His ancestral village is Dangon, near Pakhowal Tehsil Raikot, Ludhiana.

Dharmendra spent his early life in the village of Sahnewal and studied at Government Senior Secondary School at Lalton Kalan, Ludhiana, where his father was the village school's headmaster. He did his intermediate studies at Ramgarhia College, Phagwara in 1952.  

Dharmendra's first marriage was to Parkash Kaur at the age of 19 in 1954. He had two sons from this marriage, Sunny and Bobby, and two daughters, Vijeeta and Ajeeta.

After moving to Bombay and getting into the film business, Dharmendra married Hema Malini after allegedly converting to Islam to stay married to his first wife without having to get a divorce, although he later denied having converted. The couple has two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.

Sunny and Bobby both are successful stars. Ajeeta is a psychologist by profession and married to Kiran Chaudhri a dentist. They are settled in Califonia, USA. While Vijayta Deol lives in Delhi and is the Director of Rajkamal Holdings and Trading Private Limited. 
Dharmendra was fond of movies from a young age. He participated in the Filmfare new talent contest, which he won, and came to Mumbai from Punjab looking for work.

The actor made his debut with Arjun Hingorani's Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere (1960).
After that, he got supporting roles in the film Boy Friend (1961) and was cast as the romantic interest in several woman-oriented films from 1960-1967. 

Dharmendra was a romantic hero till Rajesh Khanna entered the scene at end of 1969, after which his career shifted from being a romantic hero to an action hero with Mera Gaon Mera Desh directed by Raj Khosla.

Dharmendra got the tag of He-Man at the age of 52. Actually, in 1987, 11 films were released where he was the lead actor and out of the eleven films, 7 - all action films - became successful.
