For the first time in South Africa’s history, the country has a Legal Services Ombudsman. President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed newly retired Cape Town Judge Sirajudien Desai to fill that position. He will have the responsibility and power to investigate complaints, alleged maladministration and actions which may affect the integrity of the legal profession.
