The ABS or anti-lock braking system in a Mini Cooper is used for preventing the locking up of brakes and put pressure on the brakes to stop running the axles and wheels. In this way, it will enhance the life span of the brake pads, calipers, tires, and wheels for their smooth running. When the ABS is failed, then the ABS light is illuminated on the dashboard.
