Bathabile Dlamini settles her debt

Former Social Development Minister, Bathabile Dlamini has finally paid for her role in the Sassa saga. The Constitutional Court ordered her to pay over 650-thousand rand to NGOs from her personal account. Black Sash and Freedom Under Law took Dlamini to court from failing to make sure Sassa could pay grants, after the Cash Paymaster Services contract expired. It had to be renewed repeatedly after that. The court found this to have been unconstitutional. Dlamini was found personally liable for her role in the crisis. She was found to have been reckless and grossly negligent. She has finally paid R55,000 to the Black Sash and R600,000 to Freedom Under Law. Courtesy #DStv403
