Faizan Mustafa, Vice-Chancellor of the NALSAR University of Law explains to Karan Thapar the major legal problems with the basis on which the National Register of Citizens was conducted in Assam. As a result, India's concept of citizenship has been restricted and undermined and we've ended up treating citizens unequally. We now have different criteria for who is a citizen in Assam (ie under the NRC) and in the rest of the country.
