66 employees at one of Delhi's exclusive clubs were fired earlier this week. The management has sighted a dip in revenue as a reason for the layoffs. Delhi Golf Club president Major RS Bedi has told NDTV that – “Food and beverages services have been losing consistently, and the main reason is the extremely high wages that we have been paying out to the staff as a result of a major wage agreement that we entered into in 2015" Bedi further added that employees needed to understand the club’s financial distress in the face of the pandemic. According to Major Bedi, compensation worth Rs 11 crore has also been given to the 66 employees. The Wire met with the employees of the club to learn more.
