There's a bit of a story behind this video. For years as I would ride trains through the Rhone valley, I would see cable car ways on the mountains, but never any cabins, and assume they were for transporting freight.
Thanks to the internet, I recently did a little research and found that most of them are part of the public transport system in Wallis, all included for GA travel card holders. I went to check them out and here is the result.

I filmed the trip up, but unfortunately the glare of the sun ruined the shot, so maybe another time. Please note: In the video I mentioned Goppenstein as being the highest narrow gauge railway station in Switzerland. This was meant to say "standard gauge". Sorry about that.

In Raron, it's about a 5 Minute walk to the train station where connections exist to Brig and Geneva.
