ASPINS' DAY

Local dogs (asong pinoy, aspin) owned by homeless individuals are seen along the sidewalk of Sta. Cruz Avenue in Manila, on Aug. 18, 2021. The Philippine Animal and Welfare Society (PAWS) declared August 18 as the first National Aspin Day to highlight the plight of local dogs, which are often victims of abuse and maltreatment because they are valued less than their purebred counterparts.
