Dr Muffazal Lakdawala -Medical (Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Awards 2017)

Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Awards 2017 :Dr Muffazal Lakdawala came into limelight globally after he took an initiative to treat the world’s heaviest woman,Iman Ahmed,whose weight is a whopping 500 kg. Dr Lakdawala offers a ray of hope to people battling with obesity. The quiet, smiling doctor has proved to be an angel for the overweight. He began treating Iman Ahmed at Saifee Hospital, Mumbai. Iman’s weight kept on increasing as she was suffering from elephantiasis. She also began suffering from other diseases. No doctor in the world could treat her successfully but Dr Lakdawala brought her to Mumbai with an aim to provide her relief.He is the chairman of the Minimal Access and Bariatric Surgery department at the Saifee hospital. Dr Lakdawala has been honoured by the Global ReviewCorporation for efficiently running a worldclass Centre. The All India Human Rights Association bestowed upon him the Humanitarian of the yearAward in 2007. He also received a Silver Medal at Shirin Mehtaji Oration for ‘Obstructive Jaundice’ in 1996.
