Western Railway & Central Railway will resume suburban train services in Mumbai at 100 per cent capacity of the pre-pandemic level from October 28. However, the existing travel restrictions for the general public will remain unchanged, reported PTI. The decision was made considering the rising number of commuters, an official told PTI. A joint statement by Western Railway and Central Railway clarified that only categories identified by the government as on date are permitted to travel as per the standard operating procedures (SOP). Western Railway will run 1,367 services from October 28. Central Railway will run 1,774 services from October 28. Currently, only the government employees and essential services workers are allowed to travel on the suburban locals. Fully-vaccinated citizens, who have completed the 14-day period after the second dose and those who are below 18 years are also allowed to travel by trains. Watch the video to know more.
