After president Joko Widodo opened the “Negative Investment List,” foreign investors started to invest in the Indonesian film industry. From 2016 until early 2020, Indonesian audiences increased significantly — but everything stopped after COVID-19. During this session, industry insiders will talk about Indonesian cinema’s boom, the current pandemic, and the industry’s preparations for a post-COVID boom.
