Nearly half of GPs have had urgent cancer referrals blocked by NHS managers, something which, according to a Kent GP, is hampering early diagnosis.
Suspected cancer patients are supposed to be referred for hospital tests within two weeks, but a survey of 500 doctors claims that 46% have had at least one referral denied because of cost-cutting measures.
