The Bhagavad-gita should be understood as directed by the speaker Himself, Lord Sri Krsna. He is designated throughout the Bhagavad-gita as Bhagavan, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. That He is the Supreme Lord is confirmed by all great spiritual masters like Śaṅkarācārya, Rāmānujācārya, Madhvācārya, Nimbārka Svāmī, Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu, and many other authorities of Vedic knowledge in India. Therefore we should take the Bhagavad-gita as it is directed by the Personality of Godhead Himself.
