On February 6, Hyundai Motor India said, “Hyundai Motor India has been committed to the Indian market for more than 25 years now and we stand firmly for our strong ethos of respecting nationalism.” This comes after backlash on social media after a dealer of Hyundai in Pakistan posted a message supporting separatists in Kashmir. A Twitter account of a Hyundai dealer in Pakistan had posted a message supporting 'Kashmir Solidarity' day. Soon after, #BoycottHyundai trended on Twitter in India. Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi tweeted, “All you need to say is - we are unequivocally sorry.”
