शत्रुघ्न सिन्हा ने अपने प्रतिद्वंदी अग्निमित्र पॉल को 3 लाख से ज्यादा वोटों से हरा दिया है. जीत के बाद शत्रुघ्न सिंह और उनकी पत्नी ने आसनसोल और पश्चिम बंगाल के लोगों का धन्यवाद दिया. टीएमएस के कार्यकर्ताओं की मेहनत को जीत की मुख्य वजह बताया. पत्नी पूनम सिन्हा ने कहा कि हम खुश हैं, कि आसनसोल के लोगों ने खुले हाथों से हमारा स्वागत किया. ऐसा लगता है, जैसे हम आसनसोल से ही हैं. यह केवल भारत में ही हो सकता है, जहां लोग एक दूसरे से प्यार करते हैं.
