An eyebrow transplant is a permanent way to restore eyebrows with one's natural hair. This treatment can be done on the entire eyebrow or to fill in a just portion of an eyebrow. Beauty Insider visits Natalie Attenello, a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, to see how she performs an eyebrow transplant. The first step is to mark the eyebrows to the desired shape. Then Attenello needs to obtain a strip of hair from a different body part, usually the back of the scalp, to relocate it to the eyebrow area. She separates the hair follicles and individually inserts them into the eyebrows at the correct angle and direction for the hair to grow. It takes about 200 to 300 individual follicles per eyebrow for a full transformation. Although the results are immediate, the transplanted hairs will fall out after a couple weeks, and new hair growth will start in about three months. The procedure usually ranges from $8,000 to $10,000 but can be more depending on the number of follicles needed.
