MOET, an eight-year-old blind Persian cat, had a rough start to the world. She was believed to have been bred by a backstreet breeder in Oman, where there is a lack of animal welfare and a large number of stray animals caused by illegal breeding. At just a few weeks old, the kitten was taken to an unregulated pet shop where she contracted cat flu and was never treated. Moet was left to die in a dirty cage while her sight deteriorated until she went completely blind. Luckily, she was eventually rescued by Emily who fell in love with the champagne-coloured feline within minutes of meeting her. Emily said: "I sat down to stroke her. She purred away and rolled away for a belly rub. And that was it. I was sold straight away." Emily is also the owner of three other rescue cats - Luna, Chandon and Kuro. Now Moet has become a social media sensation, boasting over 90,000 followers on Instagram. Emily added: "The main aim of putting Moet on social media was definitely to raise awareness of blind cats. To show people how amazing they are, how capable they are, how almost like normal cats they are."
