Reports Cabinet rejected push to raise Pacific spending

Federal government ministers are not denying reports that cabinet rejected a push from the foreign minister last year to effectively double aid spending in the Pacific. The Australian has reported this morning that Marise Payne last year recommended that the Government boost aid expenditure by almost one point five billion dollars but most of the measures were rejected by other ministers because of the high cost.
