Burns Light Part 1
Robert Burns was born in Ayrshire in 1759, on the 25th' January. To celebrate his 250th anniversary, a series of 'Homecoming' shows and events is organised for 2009.
This particular video is some footage of the 'Burns Light' festival in Dumfries which opened up the Homecoming programme.
It was staged on the banks of the River Nith, at Whitesands. The event was opened by Scotland's First Minister, Alex Salmond.
My video is unedited, so please forgive any undue 'extras'. Various bands played on the stage, such as The Dangleberries and others. The evening was brought to a close by the setting alight of a giant wicker model of Tam'O Shanter and his trusty mare. Meg.
