The big racket is a 1976 police film directed by Enzo G. Castellari.

Plot: State Police Marshal Nicola Palmieri, with the help of his trusted Sergeant Salvatore Velasci, investigates in the city of Rome on a mafia organization that exercises its control in the city by perpetuating the racket of extortion against business owners in the capital.
The organization is led by Rudy the Marseillais, who heads a group of ferocious and vengeful mafiosi. Palmieri's violent methods of investigation, however, are not accepted by the police leaders and, when he is removed from office, following the death of Velasci during a firefight in an attempt to foil a robbery at the Tiburtina station, he decides to organize an armed retaliation, in which a group of victims of the Marseillais gang decide to participate.

00:02:57Someone sure took a strong disliking to the decor in here.
00:03:00Hell, nothing sacred any longer.
00:03:02These delinquents running around destroying everything.
00:03:04Ah, here's one still intact.
00:03:05Here, join your brother.
00:03:06Yes.
00:03:07I'm ruined, I'm ruined.
00:03:09Yeah, you are, ain't you?
00:03:10It's a shame.
00:03:11You gonna call the police?
00:03:12Is he gonna call who?
00:03:13Ah, the police, was it?
00:03:15My God, he'd be crazy.
00:03:16Do you know what they'll do if you bring the police into this?
00:03:19They'll set a light to the whole damn place.
00:03:21And you don't want that.
00:03:23Just pay us each month and we'll protect you.
00:03:26You won't have no more problems.
00:03:27We don't like late payers and we only accept cash.
00:03:30Yesterday somebody came by to collect and you told them to call again.
00:03:33All right, now here I am.
00:03:35It's impossible.
00:03:36I can't.
00:03:37It's too much money.
00:03:38Too much, huh?
00:03:39Ah, well, it doesn't matter.
00:03:41What's the address here?
00:03:42Ah, yeah, 38 G.L. Lima.
00:03:44A few other boys will come by here pretty soon.
00:03:46Know what they did to a colleague of yours on Curso Vittorio?
00:03:49Well, about 6.30, just after closing, they went in.
00:03:53I hear they made her drink two bottles of perfume and squeeze a tube of hand cream up her you-know-what.
00:03:58Well, now can you imagine that?
00:04:01It couldn't have been very nice, huh?
00:04:08$300.
00:04:10$300?
00:04:12That's impossible.
00:04:13For God's sakes, be reasonable.
00:04:15I can't do it.
00:04:16It's impossible.
00:04:17I tell you, $300 a month is too much.
00:04:19Is this the kind that makes water?
00:04:21Yeah, everything.
00:04:22It's the latest bottle from Japan.
00:04:23One of these days they'll come out with a doll that'll bleed real blood when you cut its throat.
00:04:27Oh, how come she ain't got any money?
00:04:29Oh, how come she ain't got headlights, huh?
00:04:31Look, please let's make an agreement, huh?
00:04:33I can't afford $300.
00:04:34I got a family of six.
00:04:35Look, give me a break.
00:04:36It's too much.
00:04:37I hardly make ends meet as it is.
00:04:39Where do I find an extra $300 a month?
00:04:40Listen.
00:04:41Either you pay $75 a week or else you might just lose your peepers like her.
00:04:45Yes, sir.
00:04:46We're defending public decency.
00:04:48Just look at that disgustingly erotic, suggestive crud.
00:04:51We can't have that.
00:04:52It's immoral.
00:04:53Hey, my God.
00:04:54What the heck do you think you're doing?
00:04:55Are you out of your mind?
00:04:56Hey.
00:04:59Take care when that one gets angry.
00:05:01There ain't none of us can control him.

01:03:07You're the director yes check it shouldn't be anything yes, it's all here listen baby
01:03:24I
01:03:30Wrote down all I know about the racket. I wanted two names about a small fish. Nothing big nothing big
01:03:34I don't know who the boss is
01:03:35But listen, I do know that in a few days all the heavies are going to get together to talk

01:04:53Oh
01:05:24You
01:05:30Inspector you were taken off this case and even if that were not so
01:05:34Your actions would have been no less than totally irresponsible
01:05:38There'll be an inquiry into this mess. You've created a mess. That's also involved your superior, but he didn't know anything about it
01:05:44So they go please Nico. Don't worry about why shouldn't I worry about it?
01:05:47I acted on my own so you're not responsible
01:05:49But Mary you're a fool to imagine you could get away with what you were doing utilizing criminal methods to solve a crime
01:05:56Criminal methods in this case were necessary. Look sir in six months if we don't stop them, we'll be paying for the air
01:06:01We breathe. I know my methods are let's say somewhat illegal
01:06:04But if the results are right, don't they justify the means a boy killed beaten to a pulp?
01:06:08No, inspector Palmieri and as of right now, you're fired
01:06:14What do you mean I
01:06:16Didn't understand I'm sorry, sir. I said as of right now you're out of a job
01:06:25Would you mind at least telling me who squealed what do you mean? Ah, yes, I see. Well and a letter it was anonymous

01:07:47living
01:07:48in a metal brace, I
01:07:51Know I promised Nico
01:07:53Only I can't get used to the idea of working with the police
01:07:57Well, I'll tell you I
01:08:02Ain't a cop anymore
01:08:05All I want to know from you Mozzarelli is where they hold that meeting this week
01:08:09The rest is my headache cell 36
01:08:13No, Durango. Well, well inspector pal meeting what the hell brings you out here. You want to do a job for me?
01:08:19Need me to pull a trigger
01:08:21Who is it the gang who took over your position?
01:08:24So why don't you do it with your own men because I need professionals for a job like this
01:08:29real professionals
01:08:31And what does it pay? I'll bust you out of jail
01:08:34Not much and get your passport and as soon as the job's done you can leave
01:08:41How do I know you won't screw me you don't but you can screw me so it works both ways we're in the same boat
01:08:51That deal

01:08:59So silently, they don't even know what's happening

01:09:27300 punks less in the world. That's not what I want you to do for me. I
01:09:34Want you to kill the man who raped your daughter
01:09:38Well, baby
01:09:40Everything ready for tomorrow. Yeah, but I think you're crazy. I mean, what do you want with a man like me?
01:09:45I couldn't hit a ballpark with a bazooka. Look Pepe. I need you
01:09:49Well your loyalty and integrity and your smile the first two are yours
01:09:54The first two are yours, but you won't get a smile till they're all dead

01:10:54I
01:11:24I
01:11:38Running out on us try that once more and I'll bury you get in
01:11:48Watch yourself fella
01:11:50This
01:11:52Will be our base of operations
01:11:55Palace Oh magnificent. It reminds me of the walled office story
01:12:01What do you want luxury or security? I must admit I prefer a happy compromise
01:12:05I think I better warn you if I find one bedbug, you won't see me for dust
01:12:09big dining table
01:12:11discussionary with local artifacts
01:12:13couple of that rats
01:12:15And a resident robot. I'm Pepe and no offense intended
01:12:20I'm Piero mozzarella. How are you? I know you from somewhere Las Vegas. That's right front row chorus the one with the green feathers
01:12:29I'm Pepe pleased to meet you
01:12:33It's obviously not mutual are you you're doing her that man, right?
01:12:38The man who ran protection in Milan, right you started the racket didn't you?
01:12:43Okay
01:12:49We're all supposed to be in the same side, aren't we?
01:12:51I
01:13:11Do nothing in the sword now get it through your thick head. He's working with us. I know but listen
01:13:16He's one of the you ever pull that again. I'll kill you
01:13:22As for you just forget about it no way he's mine
01:13:28You'll forget about it there and go understand
01:13:35As we're gonna be cooped up here some days let's make an effort to cooperate
01:13:41That goes for you guys to get it
01:13:44Me. I'm I think you're right out of your mind
01:13:47You figure you and these four crazies. You're gonna fight a war against the racket
01:13:51Come on, Nico. You may be good, but you're not a miracle maker
01:13:54I told you already all I want to know from you is where they're gonna hold a meeting. Nothing else. What's really?
01:14:00Yeah, I suppose you got a great plan. It'll make all of us heroes. You won't last two minutes against that mob
01:14:06There'll be dozens of them, but that's not the only problem you'll have you won't get near the place. There are high walls
01:14:13It's a natural fortress. Where is it at the Fabrizi plant?
01:14:17on the Cassia
01:14:19What do they make here agricultural machinery and that's a cover for a lot of things
01:14:25I've made them choose this place. It's a natural good security and the owner is a member of the mob
01:14:32You know when the meetings to be all I know is Friday or Saturday
01:14:36My guess is Saturday. Why because they'd want a day when there are no workers around
01:14:42That night is too risky
01:14:45And Friday evening we go in wait for him to get there
01:14:49I
01:15:19Anyone like a drink? Hallelujah. That's a fine wine wonder how it found its way in here
01:15:31All right, let's get these weapons sorted out
01:15:50And
01:16:05The ammo the ammunition you get when I'm ready and it's payment up front. I want a passport
01:16:10You get that when I'm ready to that is if you're still one of the living then a deal is off like hell. It's off
01:16:17The reason you join me
01:16:20Is because every one of you is driven by personal motives
01:16:25Jotie they kidnapped and raped your daughter and she killed herself
01:16:29You mozzarella. They busted you up. So badly you wear that brace for the rest of your life
01:16:34Was Eddie?
01:16:36They'd raped your wife and burnt her alive
01:16:39Pepe's here because they caused the death of his nephew and me
01:16:42I'm here because it's a one possibility. I have to bring a little justice into the world. Jesus Christ an apostle
01:16:48Apostle heck he's off his nut. Maybe I am but if it comes to that we all are so reasons don't really matter
01:16:56Did we cancel the plan now or see the thing through?
01:17:00Make your decision
01:17:07Yeah
01:17:10Hmm if it's that important to have a guy around who's ready to smile when everybody's dead you didn't count me in
01:17:26Just remember work as a team and we can pull it off
01:17:39What are you playing at?
01:17:42Hey, what did you do that for your jerk?
01:17:45Hey pops, huh? What's going on?
01:17:48Some sort of a gun from my panties over the gate hot dog. You haven't got any panties on come on pops
01:17:53Give them back to me. We I'm freezing. Come on. Give me back my clothes. I got work to do
01:17:57Well now honey be but you're gonna give me in return. Why you rotten old bogey
01:18:01You want a freebie just to give me back my clothes. Yep fair exchange
01:18:04All right. All right. Let me in. That's a girl. I promise you you won't forget this. I'm in a hurry
01:18:09You want to do it? Let's do it. Don't rush me girly. I'm a man who likes to take his time
01:18:14I'll admit I'm not as good as I once was I'm as good once
01:18:20Here I am honey bee now, let's see who's over here. Come on pops. I haven't got all night
01:18:26Get your pants down and get on with it
01:18:35Hey, what the hell are you doing? What's the matter with you girly? I think you ever tried that one before
01:18:46Right haven't you finished yet? No way
01:18:53This one I could be wrong I guess but
01:19:04I
01:19:34I
01:20:04I
01:20:34I
01:20:41You think you can get inside that duct
01:20:45Yeah, I expect so
01:20:47It's big enough. All right
01:20:50Yeah, I'll go there
01:20:52Loosen one of the gratings. You'll have the best field of fire from up there
01:20:56Yeah, you're right
01:20:59You
01:21:02Go with Rosetta, you're right, but move along the duct to a grating further down above the other pillar there. Sure
01:21:15Mozzarelli, yeah, I need a leak. Where's the John?
01:21:20All over the place
01:21:22You take the pumpkin Nico
01:21:25It's my favorite gun
01:21:27But I'll need more range I think
01:21:29So I'll take the rifle
01:21:34Ain't you forgetting something fella the passport
01:21:48Off you go
01:21:57I
01:22:27I
01:22:42Pay this phone
01:22:44Really? No, they frighten me to death. I
01:22:46Sweat like a pig at the mere thought
01:22:49Listen, you take it. I don't even know which piece of the barrel. You're not getting cold feet now
01:22:52Are you come on my friend? Of course not
01:22:54I just don't want to use a gun, but I'll find things to do like what I'll take care of these fireworks
01:23:00I'll really enjoy throwing these things around. Hmm
01:23:03All right. I suggest you take a position over there where you can cover the entrance up there
01:23:09Yeah
01:23:12What a pity I
01:23:14Was hoping to work at ground level
01:23:16See, I've suffered from vertigo since I was a kid. Still I can't back out now
01:23:22I'll do my best. Thanks, Pepe. I
01:23:27Know you will
01:23:30Okay, let's go
01:23:36Wait a minute
01:23:38Look, why don't you let me cover the entrance with him? You're gonna need a gun there as well. All right
01:23:42best place to be
01:23:45I'll kill everybody from there, right as soon as they've all come through the door. I'll let them have it, right?
01:23:51They won't stand a chance. I
01:23:53Don't want you to fire until you get my signal understand. Yeah
01:23:58Before you pull the trigger you wait for my signal. It's important. All right
01:24:03right
01:24:04You signal
01:24:21Oh
01:24:28My god, I'm gonna be sick
01:24:31And you go hmm you want a bit of courage no, thanks here it'll calm your nerves man

01:26:20wonder if that's all
01:26:24Nico look who it is. It's that rotten filthy dirty rat Fink Rudy and his cute little friends
01:26:43I
01:26:46I
01:27:08That's a rally who's that I don't know I can't see his face
01:27:16I
01:27:37Gentlemen today, we're going to resolve our personal animosities our petty squabbling who is
01:27:45Independence we have little as a group we have everything
01:27:51If we cooperate
01:27:53Who will our many resources?
01:27:56We can do literally anything we choose and I mean anything
01:28:04But to the overall operation of money to me factories restaurants shops hotels if they want to stay open
01:28:09They'll pay us. In fact, eventually every living individual will have to pay us
01:28:14If they refuse their gas main might blow up and take half the house with it
01:28:19People will soon learn that they have no defense against the terror. We will create
01:28:23Just one phone call one threat will make them pay
01:28:27You have kids and you don't want to lose them and pay
01:28:32You don't have the money. You have a house. So sell it and pay no house
01:28:37Then half your salary each month if you want your kids to live then pay pay
01:28:45Naturally some will hesitate
01:28:47So we kill a couple of children a few examples of that kind and there'll be no more hesitation
01:28:52People will pay without question, but we have to cover ourselves protect each and every member of the operation
01:28:58Politicians police and judges we have to recruit that may not be of course it is all politicians love chaos
01:29:04It gives them greater control over their constituents. Oh, we can buy anybody magistrates judges policemen anybody at all and therein lies our
01:29:14I
01:29:19Knew he'd screw it up for us
01:29:44I

01:37:01Balmieri your actions today make you a criminal. So what is there to stop us doing a deal?
01:37:07We could be very useful to each other
