Home swallowed up by sinkhole in Australia after days of heavy rain

A sinkhole has swallowed up a house in the Australian state of New South Wales where major flooding since early July 2022 has disrupted the lives of an estimated 50,000 people. The heavy rainfall is believed to be linked to the La Niña climate pattern or increasingly warm sea surface temperatures which have dominated Australia’s east coast for two years running.
