Guy Shows DIY Full Barn Door Installation

This guy showed how he built a DIY full barn door for one of his clients. After taking off the old door, he first marked studs and installed the railing backer. Next, he secured a sliding rail and the barn door, tested them, and finished his work. It looked simple and fantastic once it was ready.

00:00Let's install the barn door. First things first, let's remove the old door.
00:04Next we're gonna mark the studs, but also the top of the railing backer.
00:08The studs are important to make sure that railing backer is extremely secure to the wall. While the backer isn't necessary,
00:13I use it to make sure the railing is secure to studs.
00:17The railings do come with pre-cut holes,
00:19but you never know if those holes match up to where the studs actually are. Also going over doorways, you usually have a header.
00:24Now we're gonna mount the rail into the pre-drilled holes that were in the backer when it was installed.
00:29That makes the installation so much easier and faster.
00:32And just like that, we have a smooth operating barn door. In this particular style, we have frosted acrylic in the panel section.
00:39I use acrylic because it's significantly stronger than glass,
00:42even if it is a bit more expensive. With the frosted spray, you can see it's pretty private.
00:47Also a really great look. And that's a quick rundown of how to install a barn door.
