Sculpture to evolve into fully functioning oyster reef

As a result of over-harvesting, disease, and poor water quality, 85% of oyster reefs around the globe have become extinct. After spending years investigating the destruction of oyster reefs, artist Megan Cope has installed a large-scale sculptural work on country in Minjeribah, which will evolve into a fully functioning oyster reef in years to come. This living artwork on north Stradbroke Island in Queensland combines art, culture, and science to breathe new life back into the ocean.
