Following the PFI’s 'hartal' in Kerala over the raids across the nation, Thiruvananthapuram Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Vijay Sakhare on September 23 informed that the situation is now under control.
“Situation is under control. As soon as 'hartal' was declared by PFI yesterday, we made elaborate security arrangements, and deployed more than 45000 police personnel across the state,” the ADGP (law and Order) said.
“Instructions were given to police to take stringent action against whoever tried to close down shops forcibly, pelt stones, or obstruct vehicular traffic. Lots of preventive arrests were made yesterday night, protestors who tried to block roads and vehicular movement today were arrested,” he added.
“Sporadic incidents of stone pelting, especially at KSRTC buses at isolated places, were reported. People came on motorcycles, threw stones and ran away. In few cases, stone pelters were arrested on the spot and in rest, cases were registered, we'll investigate and identify them,” he further added.
