First album as leader by American jazz pianist Stanley Cowell where he played both piano end electric piano. All eight tracks are original Stanley Cowell compositions apart the Rodgers and Hart standard "You took advantage on me" on which Cowell plays solo acoustic piano. "Blues for the Viet Cong" features a trio including bassist Steve Novosel and drummer Jimmy Hopps. Cowell's style at the time was often modal and already quite powerful. At the times the LP had a lot of attention for the provocative title.
